Ségolène Royale is the Only Presidential Candidate with a difference, who deserves to be elected.
A vote for her would be to show that a woman is not an object or a sex Symbol.
The intellectuals, economists, scientists discuss the Presidential election. The French people, they say have still not decided to whom to vote. They say that they are not very clear about the declarations made by the different Presidential candidates , and therefore they have still not decided which candidate to vote. This is because too much of thinking has clouded their minds. It cannot be that difficult for a person to decide who is his preferred candidate . They should have made up their minds long time ago. There are the political parties, and they have demarcated their political engagement. The candidates take up questions which are political actuality, or burning questions that involve the people and say how they would solve the problems. Therefore, it is not that difficult to chose a candidate. One is either a Socialist, a Capitalists or a Nationalist. And then there are the different shades of socialism, capitalism, and nationalism, going on that basic concept the choice cannot be that difficult.
Sarkozy is Capitalist, and he takes up the burning questions that affect the people and gives his solution to the problem according to his Capitalist thinking. Ségolène Royal is Socialist and her solutions takes a socialist pattern.. The extreme right Nationalists are on their own applying their political solution on a communal basis-the French first. Nicolas Sarkozy has burrowed the extreme right Nationalist political programme as his own, as a political manoeuvre to win over the sympathy of the voters of Le Pen.
Bayrou, is in the Centre, inviting those voters who are dissatisfied by Socialism or Capitalism to vote for him. In the meantime there are a large numbers who have not decided to vote. They are the don’t care nonchalant elements who are in a way a danger to society. They know instinctively where their sympathies lie, but they do not make an attempt to take the plunge. That seems to me is the situation , even though intellectuals, economists, journalists and scientists of all sort make very illuminating discourses about the people and their intentions.
Ségolène Royal has attempted to give the people some thing entirely new based on Socialism. She had very wisely consulted a large cross section of the people, before she put forward her election manifesto, which is based on “material” gathered at these consultations. She has a perfect understanding of the people and her solutions are people friendly. But she has a problem. That is simply being a woman. French men are mostly misogynic. Therefore, the male voters do not favour a woman Presidential candidate. The women are jealous specially the upper middle class. Her being young and beautiful is also a disadvantage with certain women voters. If she was elderly, like Simone Veil, both men and women may not have had a problem voting for her.
Strangely a large percentage of the anti-Ségolène vote comes from the women. It should be a pride for women to vote for a woman as it is an opportunity to for them contribute against the preconceived concept of a woman being an object and a sex symbol and nothing more. The argument they give is that Ségolène Royal has no programme. Which is a lie as she is the only one who presents a new programme. Sarkozy is merely coming with the same old conservative programme of the UMP with lot of verbal frills. The singers like Jonny Halliday, and Enrico Marcias seek the capitalist camp for more obvious reasons, as the Socialist harp on taxing the rich for the benefit of the poor….!
It is a pity if for some of these reasons the French people will not vote Ségolène Royal. That would be a great chance lost for France. It is time that France gives a chance to a woman to be at the helm of its Government, that would change many things in France.
